There is no reason
what I say makes no sense
the end is close
I will live the show with friends
discussing how to break a leg while sitting on a bench in Floridiana
and see the rest of the city fading
like on a perfect day
wake up carry the dog around
to steal a few breaths
the relentless farce shows itself
as in the worst nightmares
no discounts and benefits
a cut to smooth out the slutty measures and unpleasant glances of whom
calmly pushes you
to try again

Giorgio Anastasia (Italy, 1972) from Fondazione collection – translation from Italian by Slow Words

Relitto (2020), is the cover picture of this poem, its author is the student photographer Elèna Lucariello who took part to a workshop lead by Diana Marrone (Slow Words) at CFI (Centro Fotografia Indipendente) founded by Mario Spada, Biagio Ippolito and Luca Anzani in Naples – an unconventional photography school where Slow Words and Fondazione editorial team partnered to issue a booklet of postcards in which the students freely chose to associate their photo projects to Anastasia’s poems.
